Chicago MMSI 2011

Last weekend was MMSI in Chicago. For those of you not familiar with this event it is an open format competition held every year attracting some the best adepts around the world. It is also probably the most prestigious show and the toughest judging in the USA. So it’s on my “must attend” list.

It was also a chance to meet back with friends. Let simply say that after a week of stress about a possible strike from my airline, coupled with making sure the Chaos Knight was done, meant that a weekend with no pressure was greatly appreciated. So first some limited edition beer:

Some Friday night Warmachine with pizza:

And finally some podcasting with the crew of Screaming Heretic:

I want to take a second to thank the Kleinhenz for their hospitality. You always make me feel welcome and it is greatly appreciated.

As usual MMSI turned out to be a spectacular show. The level was amazing with some of my favorite figurine painters and sculptors present. Here are some of my favorite:

Mike Blank amazing piece centered around Louis XIV new clothes. I voted for it and it was awarded with the Best of Show:

Bill Horan was also present with his piece that won the Best of Show at the World Expo but I preferred this one by far. Simple, interesting subject and the dynamism is so real:

And my most favorite of all from Wendy Rafalsky. I might be a bit biased though…

You can find all the pictures I took from the entries at the bottom of this article. Otherwise the next project is probably Zorabeth and hopefully a historical piece in time for Long Island in a month.

You can find the the pictures of the Chaos Knight in the fantasy gallery:

And the usual Coolminiornot link!

Keep painting!
